Campania In-Felix Screening at North Texas College Film Fest

Deep within the beautiful countryside of the Campania region of Italy there is a sickness that is destroying both the natural world and the people who need it to survive. Years of pumping waste and pollution into the air and ground has made the land dangerous. Ivanna Corsale’s documentary, Campania In-Felix (Unhappy Country), takes a deep and unflinching look at the root causes of problem; implicating the government’s role in the issue as much as the mafia’s. An excerpt from the documentary will screen as part of the annual North Texas College Film Fest on Tuesday, February 28. Doors will open at 6PM and the films will begin at 7PM. The event will take place at the Texas Theatre and includes new work from the major film schools in town: SMU, UNT, and UTA. Hope to see you there.

Tuesday Feb 28th head down to the Texas Theatre for the North Texas College Film Fest. This is the annual showing of new work from the major film schools in town, SMU UNT and UTA. I know that this years show will be pretty great. All the programs will have inspiring work for all to see. So if you are looking for your talent to hire, or if you know someone who is thinking about going to a film school, this will make that case that you should stay here in town, you do not have to do to LA NY or Austin for that mater. There are really great programs here. So be there. Films will start at 7 doors open and 6 and it is rumored that there will be free pizza for starving students at 6.

The Angelika Falls in Love with the Oscars

The VAD staff and board and a few lucky members were treated to the 3D version of Pina by the good people at Allied Marketing.

We can all recommend the film, which is playing at The Angelika Film Center Dallas program celebrating the Oscar Nominees

In his exhilarating new film, German master Wim Wenders (WINGS OF DESIRE, BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB) captures the incredibly inventive dance world of legendary choreographer Pina Bausch. Wenders had conceived with Bausch a dance film like none seen before, which would take the advantage yet of the newest technology to put the viewer deep inside Bausch’s playful, thrillingly unpredictable pieces. After her untimely death in 2009, Wenders continued with the project, turning it into the most exciting tribute he could imagine. Sensual and visually stunning, PINA powerfully renders the beauty and sheer physicality of the dances and dancers of Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal ensemble.

MAKE A NEW FILM WITH US: “BRAIN POWER”

MAKE A NEW FILM WITH US: “BRAIN POWER”
We’re working on a new short film about the importance of nurturing the youngest brains and the emerging global brain. Would love to have you participate!

There are two ways you can do this:
Home Video or Graphics

1. Home Video: If you have a child or grandchild who is 0-5, please film yourself doing something you love doing with them! We’re also looking for footage of children running into your arms from your point of view (cell phones work great). Watch the call for entries below and submit your footage at letitripple.org

2. Graphics: If you are a graphic designer, illustrator, artist, or photographer, please send us your visual interpretations of the brain! We’re working with Talenthouse, a collaborative global artist community, to gather as many visual interpretations of the brain as possible. Watch the video below and find out more at: letitripple.org
